미국 연방통신위원회(FCC)가 22일(현지시간) 국가안보 위협 목록에 오른 중국 기업들이 만든 핵심 하드웨어를 부품으로 사용하는 기기의 미국 내 판매를 금지하기로 의결했다고 로이터 통신이 보도했습니다.

FCC가 국가안보 위험으로 간주한 중국 기업들에는 화웨이와 ZTE가 포함돼 있고,이들 기업의 장비는 미국 내 판매가 금지돼 있습니다.

2022년부터 해당 목록에 오른 화웨이 등이 제조한 기기는 신규 승인을 받을 수 없지만,플레이 게임그동안 화웨이 부품이 들어간 기기는 예외적으로 미국 시장 진입 승인을 받을 수 있었습니다.

새 규정은 화웨이가 만든 로직을 담은 하드웨어 부품이 들어간 기기들도 미국 판매를 금지합니다.

브렌던 카 FCC 위원장은 "우리는 부품 관련 허점을 완전히 차단할 것"이라고 강조했습니다.

조 바이든 행정부의 백악관 국가안보회의(NSC) 관료를 지낸 크리스 맥과이어는 "오염된 부품,플레이 게임특히 반도체나 통신 장치는 기기 전체를 오염시키는 데 사용될 수 있다"고 말했습니다.

도널드 트럼프 행정부는 중국산 기술 장비에 대해 전방위적 단속을 벌여 왔습니다.

지난달 FCC는 일부 중국 제조업체들의 장비들을 추가로 금지했고,플레이 게임대부분의 군사용 드론 수입을 금지하는 방안도 제안했습니다.

앞서 FCC는 새로운 외국산 드론 및 라우터 모델들의 수입을 금지했고,플레이 게임미국 통신사들이 국가안보 위협으로 간주되는 중국 통신사들과 망을 상호연결하는 것을 금지하는 방안도 내놨습니다.
